Some times I have trouble sleeping. Strike that, erase it. Alot of the time is about how much time I have trouble sleeping. I'm not an insomniac or at least I dont think so. My understanding is that an insomniac mentally can't go to sleep. I just think about things. and worry and think and type and think and play jazz records.

stuck inside on the back of desk drawer and rediscovered

i guess i dont really believe that you can shed your skin
but i say that wishing i could look out from the 50th story of a large bright hotel.
the things I hate in you are usually the ones I want to see in myself.
i can see you on the inside of my droopy world—
passed out from too many late nights and late memories.
there’s no place for you right now on the sam planet as me.
beat nostalgia to death in the backyard of my old house by the swingset.
all of my old words seem to have a certain way of bring back all my memories
with a blown out speaker playing in the back of my car.
maybe some plain and sad song with an awful melody.
we can wake up on waking up one day and leave it in the tall grass.
believe me.
believe me.
believe me.
purple orange painted curtain sky and pale white specks of dust littered with plastic wind.
the world drops down to 40 degrees and it doesn’t freeze but becomes a slushi
you can look through and move slowly but never stop.

"But what you are left with is a premonition of the way your life will fade behind you, like a book you have read too quickly, leaving a dwindling trail of images and emotions until all you can remember is a name."
Bright Lights, Big City - Jay McInerney (via xemux)
The thing that always fascinates me about this is whether it’s the moment before and the hands are coming together, or if it’s the moment right after and the hands are pulling apart.

i feel like this has been a long strange journey of transformation. for awhile my life seemed to be spinning completely out of control. i felt lost. my life fell apart in front of my face and i pretty much was unable to respond to any of it in public instead had to watch the media shred it apart…

"The night has already turned on that imperceptible pivot where two a.m. changes to six a.m. You know this moment has come and gone, but you are not yet willing to concede that you have crossed the line beyond which all is gratuitous damage and the palsy of unraveled nerve endings."
Jay McInerney [Bright Lights, Big City] (via goldenwandering)

Hemingway’s mustache was like his prose: straightforward, spare, and bold. (via 15 of the Greatest Literary Mustaches)

Have a look at the article, it features the brave and the bold in literature - Vonnegut, Shakespeare, Flaubert, Mark Twain, Faulkner, Nietzsche, Sir Arthur Doyle, Tolstoy, Orwel, Gabriel García Márquez, and Rushdie (who was denied entrance to the famous Jaipur Lit Show recently)
